POLICY ISSUES:
The proposed resolutions adopt documents that provide guidance to Town staff working to implement the Town of Erie's affordable housing goals of encouraging the development of a variety of housing types and affordability throughout the community. The Town's efforts to promote more diverse housing opportunities for households in a broad range of income and types-families, households without children, and individuals-will enable them to call Erie home. This will in turn make it easier for local businesses and organizations to hire employees who live in Erie, help reduce traffic associated with jobs in Erie, enable more people who have grown up in Erie to afford to move back home, make it possible for more elders to afford to "age in community" when they downsize in Erie, and make it easier for grandparents who live elsewhere to move to Erie to be near their children and grandchildren who live here. Additionally, this work supports the Towns commitment through the Regional Housing Partnership to make 12% of the Town's housing stock be affordable by 2035.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
