POLICY ISSUES:
Per the Home Rule Charter Article 10.03, the Town shall maintain a planning commission and per the Municipal Code there must be seven (7) members. With the resignation of a member earlier this year, it is now necessary to appoint a new member.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
Staff recommend the Town Council interview the four (4) candidates listed below and then select one (1) of the candidates to serve on the Planning Commission by approving the resolution appointing one new member to the Planning Commission.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
With the resignation of Martin Laws, the Planning Commission currently has one (1) vacancy. Recruitment for the Planning Commission opened on February 19, 2025, and ran until March 7, 2025. The Town received eleven (11) applications during the recruitment period and all were reviewed by Town Clerk staff to ensure they met the minimum requirements of the Planning Commission. The Town Clerk forwarded all eleven (11) applications to the Town Council for their review. Town Council reviewed the applications and submitted their top 3 choices to the Town Clerk by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2025. The Town Clerk tallied the Council choices and four (4) candidates receiving multiple votes were selected to be interviewed.

At this meeting the Town Council will interview the following candidates, deliberate, and appoint one (1) of them to the Planning Commission.

Matt Sundeen
