* The amendment for 2026 covers the salary and benefits for the two current Co-Responders.
BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The Town Council approved the agreement with Boulder County for two dedicated co-responders in 2023. In 2024, Council approved a five-year IGA (Resolution 24-006).
Police often respond to calls for service where individuals may be having a mental health crisis. Co-responders are mental health professionals who have knowledge and expertise in this area and can provide resources to individuals in need.
The Town of Erie Police Department has been working in partnership with Boulder County since 2021 to provide Co-Responders in the Town of Erie. The current IGA funds the salary and benefits of two full-time Co-Responders who are located at the police department and dedicated to responding to calls in the Town of Erie.
