SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
As part of its 2021 work plan, the Board of Trustees expressed a desire to accelerate the timeline for completing the Coal Creek Park redevelopment project. After an extensive community engagement process, the Board adopted the Coal Creek Park Master Plan in 2018. The Board also directed staff to complete construction documents (CDs) according to the adopted master plan. CDs were completed in 2019, ensuring the Town would have a shovel ready project when the time came to construct the park.

To ensure continued compliance with code, standards and specifications, and other external factors that have changed since 2019, the CDs needed to be updated before construction could begin. Wenk Associates, who completed the original documents in 2019 has been working with staff to make the applicable updates. The Board approved an agreement with Wenk in March 2021 for services and approved a change order to account for the addition of the splash pad/ice rink amenity, additional landscape screening required by code, and coordination with utility consultants.
