SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
Town staff reached out to AT&T in 2019 and requested cellular service/coverage in the Downtown area be improved. AT&T conducted a site analysis of the general location and concluded that extending the height of one of the existing athletic field light poles at Mitchell Field in Erie Community Park, and installing an antenna would provide the most immediate service improvement with the least amount of visual impact to the Town. The light pole identified for this project is located at the northwest corner of Mitchell Field, approximately 90' from County Line Road. This agreement would allow AT&T to replace, at their cost, the existing pole with a new 80' pole and install the necessary equipment to improve coverage in the area. The agreement also specifies that AT&T will install new athletic field lights on the pole that will remain under the control of the Town's Parks and Recreation Department. Once approved, AT&T will work with Planning staff to set up a pre-application meeting to discuss the administrative application review process for an Alternative Town Structure and Base Station as outlined in Chapter 13 of the UDC.
