SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The 2019 budget includes the purchase of new and replacement Fleet units. The Capital Budget includes purchasing four new Patrol SUVs, two replacement pickups and two new pickups for Parks and Streets.
Part of outfitting these vehicles is installing a police package on the Patrol units and light bars on the pickups. WAC - Bearcom (previously known as Wireless Advanced Communications) is the Town’s preferred vendor to complete this work as they have purchased/supplied and installed all of this type of work for previous Fleet vehicles and equipment.
The Town received a bid from WAC - Bearcom for installing police accessories in the four new SUV units for $19,814 for each unit. We’ve added additional funds to cover possible additional fees of $1,961. The total projected cost for each SUV is $21,775.
The Town spent about $1,600 per light bar in 2018 from WAC - Bearcom. We’ve added additional funds to cover possible additional fees and price increases of $400. The total projected cost for each pickup is $2,000.
Cost Summary
Purchase Price $85,656
Additional Fees 9,444
Not To Exceed Total $95,100
