Approve resolution to sign the renewal for the IGA with Boulder County Community Services and authorize the Mayor to execute said IGA.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

The Town of Erie Board of Trustees approved the IGA with the Boulder County Co-Responders with resolution number 21-053 during the Board of Trustee meeting on 04/27/2021.
Mental health clinicians serving as Co-Responders with police officers have been shown to be effective in dealing with individuals suffering a mental crisis and helping police officers safely deescalate potentially violent confrontations.
To increase the Co-Responders' understanding of Erie's community and to improve response time and days of coverage, the Board of Trustees approved additional funding to contract for dedicated resources with the Boulder County Co-Responder program. This has allowed Boulder County to hire and designate one clinician specifically for the Town of Erie.
This is not a 24/7 operation, 365 days per year. This employee is a Boulder County employee supervised by the current supervisors of the BC Co-Responder program. The Town's Co-Responder trains with this team and is also trained to specifically deal with Town of Erie issues. In addition, this Co-Responder is trained to follow-up with case management for Erie cases and provide outreach to our community to include the schools.
