Staff recommend the adoption of Ordinance 14-2025 inclusive of Town Attorney and Sustainability Advisory Board's recommended language and Town board consistency updates.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The recommended updates to Ordinance 14-2018 bring the Sustainability Advisory Board up to date with other advisory board ordinance language throughout the Town. The updates are the result of both the Town Attorney and Sustainability Advisory Board member suggestions and approval. The key changes from the current ordinance to the proposed are as follows:
Background.
In 2018, the Town Board of Trustees established the Sustainability Advisory Board through Ordinance 14-2018. This ordinance recognized the creation of this board as "necessary to the preservation of the public property, health, safety and welfare of the Town." At that time, there was no full-time sustainability staff, Sustainability Division, nor Town Environmental Services Department, focused on environmental stewardship.
One of the key updates to the original ordinance transitions the Sustainability Advisory Board from a primary responsibility role in updating the Town's Sustainability Plan to an advisory role, similar to other board and commissions roles throughout the Town. It's important to note that the Sustainability Advisory Board will still be very much involved in the Sustainability Plan update process including engaging with sustainability staff and plan consultants through stakeholder engagement, community outreach, plan draft review and more.
