SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

The 2021 Edition of Standards and Specifications for Design and Construction of Public Improvements (Standards and Specifications) were adopted by the Board of Trustees in December 2020. In order to ensure the Standards and Specifications are kept current, periodic updates are necessary.

Since the last update, staff has identified updates related to industry standards, materials, and construction practices that require updating this document. We have updated and reviewed these changes and have made some clarifications. A summary of these changes is attached and consist primarily of landscaping, water, and wastewater revisions. Additionally, updates have been made to reflect new requirements by the State for utility locating. There are also changes to improve consistency between the sections and to clarify processes. These Standards and Specifications are consistent with the most recent Unified Development Code.
