BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
Economic Development Week was created by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in 2016. The week was created to increase awareness of local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and improve communities’ quality of life. Over the last 10 years, more than 500 Economic Development Week proclamations have been made throughout the United States and Canada.
Proclamations have been approved in all 50 states, with more than 60 communities officially proclaiming Economic Development Week.
