SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

On June 9, 2020, the Board awarded a construction contract to Asphalt Specialties to for the 2020 Street Maintenance Program.

The Town requested a bid from Asphalt Specialties to complete some shoulder work on portions of County Line Road, Weld County Road 7, Vista Parkway and Erie Parkway. These roads were included in the original project, however we anticipated completing the shoulder work in-house. With the limited staff by splitting shifts due to the COVID-19 situation, staff determined this work cannot be completed in-house and requested a bid for the Contractor to complete. Currently the areas do not have curb and gutter and have a drop off from the edge of asphalt to the shoulder, causing a safety concern for all motorists and bicyclists.

Fiscal Impact:

The Town received a quote from Asphalt Specialties, Inc. for the shoulder work in the amount of $81,430.
