SUMMARY/KEY POINTS

Effective child abuse prevention programs, like Blue Sky Bridge, succeed because of partnerships among families, social service agencies, schools, religious and civic organizations, law enforcement agencies and the business community.

This proclamation encourages the Town of Erie community members to become aware of child abuse prevention and support parents in raising their children in a safe and nurturing environment.

This proclamation also recognizes April 19-25, 2026 as Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week has been observed annually in April since 1981 emerging from President Reagan’s call for support. Child Abuse Prevention Month links the broader victim rights movement with specific efforts to protect children.
