SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

The NAACP Boulder County is requesting funds to help the local schools celebrate Universal Children’s Day on November 20, 2021. Universal Childrens Day <https://nationaltoday.com/universal-childrens-day/> is a time to promote togetherness around the world, awareness of the problems children face in every corner of the globe, and improve the welfare for all children.

This request would provide funds to provide every elementary and middle school classroom in Erie with a Crayola Colors of the World kit that includes 24 skin tone pencils, 24 skin tone crayons, 24 skin tone markers and a 48 page Colors of the World Coloring book. Please see the attached grant application for detailed information on specific details on how these funds would be used.

An NAACP representative will attend the Board meeting and be available to provide additional details and answer questions.

Fiscal Impact:

If approved, this request will not require an additional appropriation because there are available funds in the overall Legislative budget that are available to cover this increase to the Grants to Communities line item.
