SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The Town currently does not have in place appointed relief judges for the Erie Municipal Court. Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute §13-10-105(1)(b) the Board of Trustees has the authority to appoint such relief judges as circumstances may require. Staff is recommending to the Board of Trustees to consider appointing one or two relief judges. The purpose of these back-up judges would be to be available to preside in the Erie Municipal Court in the event that Judge Hardesty is unable to attend court. Judge Hardesty has a conflict currently for April 3, 2017 Municipal Court date.
Attached are the resumes for two candidates that have been reviewed and approved by both the Town Prosecutor and the presiding Municipal Court Judge.
