Body

SUMMARY/KEY POINTS

A resolution is required as part of the grant application to Colorado Parks and Wildlife to verify financial support for the project.

Town matching funds are available in the Trails & Natural Areas Fund.

Design is underway and construction is planned for 2026.

BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

Reach 2 of the Coal Creek Regional Trail runs from Reliance Park to County Line Road. The trail project is being designed in conjunction with the Coal Creek Restoration & Flood Control Project to create efficiencies in design and construction for both projects. Funding for the creek restoration & flood control project is being supported by FEMA. However, those funds do not support the trail portion of the project. Trails and Natural Area Funds (TNAF) are allocated in 2025 for the project, however additional amenities, such as a pedestrian bridge connecting to Erie Wetlands, are desired as part of the project. This grant request will supplement Town funding for these added amenities.
