STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Approve the Resolution appointing three (3) members to the Airport Economic Development Advisory Board, appointing one (1) member to the Board of Adjustment, appointing four (4) members to the Historic Preservation Advisory Board, appointing three (3) members to the Open Space Trails Advisory Board, appointing two (2) members to the Sustainability Advisory Board and appointing three (3) members to the Tree Advisory Board, filling vacancies due to term expirations.

 

Approve the Resolution making Liaison Appointments to Various Boards, Councils, Consortia and Committees

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

Recruitment to appoint members to the Airport Economic Development Advisory Board, Board of Adjustment, Historic Preservation Advisory Board, Open Space Trails Advisory Board, Sustainability Advisory Board and Tree Advisory Board began in January 2024 and concluded on February 9, 2024.  The Town Clerk then asked each board or commission to review all the applications for the respective board or commission and submit to the Town Clerk by April 5, 2024 their recommendations for appointment for consideration by the Town Council.

 

The Town Clerk compiled the recommendations for each of the boards or commission to arrive at the following complete list of recommendations of appointments for 2024:

 

Airport Economic Development Advisory Board:

                     Paul Houghtaling for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

                     Emmett Dowling for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

                     Jennifer Webb for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

 

Board of Adjustment:

                     Jeff Percell for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

Recruitment for this board will reopen on Friday, April 26, 2024, to fill the remaining open seats.

 

Historic Preservation Advisory Board:

                     Mike Turner for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

                     DeAndrea Arndt for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

                     Cesar Jimenez for a 2-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2026

                     Lara Thomas for a 2-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2026

 

Open Space Trails Advisory Board:

                     Phil Brink for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

                     Dave Tazik for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

                     Bill Rigler for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024, through April 30, 2028

 

Sustainability Advisory Board:

                     Arthur Henderlong for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

                     Rose Murphy for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

 

Tree Advisory Board:

                     Leanne Viehler for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

                     Amanda Westendorf for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

                     Claudia Smelko for a 4-year term from May 1, 2024-April 30, 2028

 

The Mayor traditionally, or as specified by the Erie Municipal Code, appoints members of Town Council to serve as liaisons to various advisory boards, committees and regional organizations. Mayor Brooks asked each Board member to advise him of the advisory board, committee or organization to which they were most interested in being appointed to serve as liaison. The attached Resolution reflects the Mayor’s consideration of those preferences and assignment of Board of Trustee Members to act as liaisons for the following boards and committees:
