Body

SUMMARY/KEY POINTS

The Comprehensive Plan is a guiding document for Council and staff as new development and projects are proposed.

The Plan informs how other strategic plans are created and implemented across various departments and topic areas.

BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

The Comprehensive Plan is an overarching guide for desired development, services, and lived experience in the Town of Erie. The document establishes a vision, guiding principles, policies, and action items that cover all aspects of community building-from land use to parks, utilities and public services. As a guiding document, the policies and Future Land Use Map are meant to provide guidance for decision makers and staff as they review development, prioritize investments, and deliver infrastructure improvements.

The Comprehensive Plan goals are implemented by more detailed plans, strategies, and regulations like the Transportation & Mobility Plan, Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails Plan, Sustainability Plan, Unified Development Code (UDC),utility plans, and others.

The attached Staff Report and Presentation provide details on the land use designations and densities in the Comprehensive Plan. Updates on key implementation efforts including outreach in Old Town and next steps for the UDC update are also included.
