POLICY ISSUES:
The policy item under consideration is whether to prioritize the capital budget needed to convert a portion of the Village at Coal Creek property into Parks and Open Space offices and equipment storage. Divisions from Parks & Recreation and Public Works are currently housed at the Leon A. Wurl Service Center (LAWSC). There are major space constraints for staff and equipment at the current LAWSC facility, which limits the Division's ability to maintain service levels for Town residents. As the Town's population grows and parks and open space acreage increases, staffing levels need to keep pace to continue to provide a high level of service for a growing population. The VCC property presents a potential solution for necessary near and long-term facility expansion needs.
Recommendation
