SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

Boulder County conducted a safety study for US 287 because of the high number of crashes and fatalities occurring on the corridor. The study identified the types of crashes and their locations on US 287. The study analyzed the data and provided recommendations to reduce the number of crashes and fatalities on the rural sections of the corridor, including near the intersection of Arapahoe Road. Boulder County continues to seek funding to implement the recommendations of the study. Boulder County is asking Erie and other municipalities along the corridor to officially support the recommendations in the study and to support the pursuit of future funding opportunities.
