The Town Council wished to express support for the proposed St. Vrain Valley School District 2024 Bond Measure.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
At the July 23, 2024 Town Council meeting Dr. Haddad, Superintendent, presented to the Town Council regarding the current status of St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) educational programs and proposed 2024 Bond Measure. Town Council requested a letter of support to urge the SVVSD Board to approve the proposed 2024 bond initiative, which includes funding for Erie schools. Staff drafted the attached letter for Council consideration. If Council approves the letter, the Mayor and Councilors may sign it and then staff will forward the letter to the SVVSD Board and Superintendent Haddad.
Because the SVVSD Board has not yet taken action on the Bond Measure, this letter urging support is not covered by provisions in the Fair Campaign Practices Act (FCPA). However, if the SVVSD Board approves putting the Bond Measure on the ballot, then FCPA provisions limit the Council to advocating for (or against) the Measure by adopting a Resolution during a regular Council Meeting.
