POLICY ISSUES:
This proposed addition to the Municipal Code would require home childcare establishments to register with the Town will ensure the Town has contact information for each establishment. There are no other policy implications.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
Staff recommends adding Chapter 16 to Title 4 of the Erie Municipal Code to require home childcare establishments to register with the Town. These establishments do not require a business license. Requiring registration will ensure the Town has knowledge of and contact information for each establishment.
Registration would be completed annually and include the following information:
• Business owner’s first and last name
• Business name
• Business address
• Business phone number
• Business email
• Copy of state license
The Ordinance will go into effect approximately 10 days after approval by the Town Council.
