SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
On Nov. 7, 2023, the registered electors of the Town of Erie approved the Town of Erie Home Rule Charter which requires certain updates to the Erie Municipal Code to establish consistency. Approving this Ordinance will repeal and reenact Chapter 5 of Title 1 in its entirety and addresses policies and procedures that the Mayor, Town Council and all appointed boards, committees, and commissions are subject to, and as sets the compensation for the Mayor and Town Council. All other provisions in the repealed Chapter 5 of Title 1 are addressed in the Home Rule Charter so were removed from the reenacted version.
