SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

Article 8.03.(2) of the Erie Home Rule Charter authorizes Town Council to appoint qualified assistant judges as may be necessary to act in case of temporary absence, sickness, disqualification, or inability of the Municipal Judge to act.

Jeffrey Howard Cahn and David J. Thrower were appointed as Associate Municipal Judges on March 22, 2022. Both Associate Judge Cahn and Associate Judge Thrower have provided coverage in the absence of Presiding Judge Ablao. Presiding Judge Ablao and Municipal Court staff recommend these reappointments for a new 2-year term.
